Saving Pondstown is an ecological adventure story, and the sequel to The Pondstown Rescue. When the steady abundance of water that has created an environment favorable for the amphibians and reptiles living in Bayou Bog and Pondstown stops flowing, all the nearby water creatures are greatly impacted.
The adventure starts when the dedicated mayor of Pondstown, Mr. Hopper—whose frog-napping and rescue were described in The Pondstown Rescue—along with the astute Ms. Leaper and Neil Newt notice the lowering of the pond water and make a trek to Bayou Bog which is the source of water that flows into their beloved Pondstown. They then discover the broader environmental interconnections, revealing how water really ends up in Pondstown.
After meeting up with a group of amphibians and reptiles from the now dried up Bayou Bog, the combined group ventures to the Near Turn of the river to learn why the water that had flowed into Bayou Bog and then to Pondstown is no longer there. What they discover at the Near Turn is very discouraging.
Working as a group, they then devise a way that might solve their problem, even though they are interrupted by Twolegs several times in their efforts.
