Fringes of Change:
Fringes of Change is a look at the history of the key players and events that shaped the Russian Revolution(s) and the events prior to the end of World War I. The story follows a young Polish Socialist scholar of history, Stephan Kudlati, who becomes a part time clerk, documents forger, and recording secretary for key members of the Bolshevik party from 1914 thru 1918. His initial meeting is with Vladimir Illich Lenin, Grigori Zinoviev, and Lev Kamenev, three personalities who maintained an unshakeable belief that a worker revolution would break out in an advanced European country according to a formula for revolutionary change spelled out by Karl Marx. This work follows Stephan as he makes repeated visits and contacts with the major conspirators who eventually execute a coup against the Provisional Government which had ousted Tsar Nicholas II in February. As the story progresses he follows the core leaders of the coup to Moscow and on August 30, 1918 he is with Lenin when Fanny Kaplan (a Social Revolutionary radical) shoots Lenin with a gun Stephan had sold to her just days before. At this point, the story changes from a ‘historical’ view into speculation as to what would have happened if the assassination attempt did succeed.

Escape to Proxima is a science fiction fantasy work.
All fans of Science Fiction are accustomed to the fantasy aspect of many works which treat the enormous distances between star systems with a disregard that is easily solved by trans-light travel speeds achieved by almost ‘magical’ propulsion systems. My particular venture attempts to deal with the ‘reality’ aspects of travel to a near star without resorting to any post-Einstein leap of faith.
My work does contain a slight fantasy aspect of travel at an extremely rapid rate. However, it does not disregard the reality of Einsteinian physics.
The story speculates on the need for hibernation for a multi-century period even at the remarkable rate achieved with the crew’s propulsion system. It addresses the challenges a crew traveling those distances might face and how they adapt to needed changes after reviving in order to land on a habitable planet.
Once they land, they discover the planet is already inhabited by people in the
early stages of organizing and controlling a civilization. Following landing, the crew
uses their talents to create transportation on the lengthy river they have landed near in order to find a sanctuary where they can continue their life. When their arrival is
discovered, however, locals begin to pursue them in the mistaken impression that they have been sent by mysterious Gods of the Far Star. But, the crew’s success in fleeing is limited and eventually the locals do capture them and take them to the ruler of their kingdom. When introduced to the ruler, discoveries are made which present an almost paradoxical riddle for the crew and ruler to resolve.
